Write for Us

Do you love video games and also have a passion for writing? Well then come write for us!

Our goal with this site is to offer an adult perspective on the video game industry. All of the contributors of the site are currently over the age of 30, some are married, some have kids, some are just hanging out doing their own thing. We have all been into the gaming scene since as far back as we can remember and continue to play when we can in between our adult responsibilities.

We’re always looking for new contributors that share the same passion for video games that we do, that can add their opinions to the ring when it comes to the state of the industry.

You don’t necessarily have to be over 30 years old in order to write for us, but unfortunately you do have to at least be over the age of 25 (we do make some exceptions). We know there are a lot of mature and responsible teenagers out there that love to game and have a passion for the industry, and we also know there are still a lot of immature 25+ year olds out there, but we are trying to maintain a standard within the site.

The short answer is, the site doesn’t have any sitewide advertising and therefore doesn’t make any money, so we cannot directly compensate you for your articles. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t still make money.

We made the conscious decision to refrain from plastering ads all over the site so that it would remain clean and easy to read, but we do allow for affiliate links to be placed within the articles, within reason.

The site still needs to be able to pay for server and domain costs, which we currently cover from Amazon Associate links, which is how we are able to afford not putting ads throughout the site. And since we already cover our running costs with our current articles, we allow any contributors to add links to their own affiliate programs in hopes of making money.

And while there are a ton of affiliate networks out there, we have had the most luck with Amazon Associates.

Obviously there are a few rules that we have when it comes to publishing articles on our site. These rules ensure that nobody is taking advantage of the posting of affiliate links or linking back to their own sites. It also helps spread the love throughout the site in general, so if you are interested in publishing an article here, take note of these few rules.

  1. All posts must link back to one existing post on type2gaming.com
  2. All posts must have at least 1 authority link near the top, meaning you must link out to a major reputable, external, website as your first link on the article.
  3. May only post up to 3 affiliate links within your post.
  4. May only post up to 2 links back to your own site within a post.
  5. Post must be gaming related in some capacity.
  6. Post must be a reasonable length if you plan to incorporate your own links (just don’t want super short posts full of links for the sake of posting links). Articles, must have some substance if they are going to have links.
  7. Posts must not be completely self promoting.

These rules are just in place to ensure that nobody tries to take advantage of their affiliate links or linking back to their own sites. We’re all for spreading the link juice as long as the content has substance.

The site currently gets a decent amount of traffic, which helps us make money to cover the running costs, but we know with more writers and more content we could gain even more traffic, which will in-turn help everyone’s articles on the site gain exposure.
