Bethesda Softworks showed off the latest installment in the DOOM series, from develoer id Software, which is set to arrive in Spring of 2016, and it looks pretty slick.

The original DOOM was one of the first computer games I ever played and it still holds a special place in my heart when it comes to first person shooters. I will admit, I haven’t played through some of the more recent installments in the series, but this new one kind of has me excited to give it a try. I’m not sure how I feel about the random slow motion arm ripping and head smashing, but it does look pretty cool. It also looked like the motion in the gameplay video was extremely smooth, almost as if a person wasn’t actually playing it, but I guess we’ll see come next spring…

Below you will find an 8-minute clip of some single-player gameplay, and if that’s not enough for you, head on over to Kotaku to check out their full coverage of the E3 announcement.

With E3 this week, I’m sure we’re going to have a lot of opinions about what gets announced and what we see, so keep checking back.
